Introduction

Koloko Labs LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Minerva mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

We are committed to protecting your privacy. Minerva is designed with privacy as a core principle – we do not require you to create an account, and we do not operate servers that store your personal data.

By using Minerva, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Display Name: If you choose to enter your name during onboarding, it is stored locally on your device and in your personal iCloud account to personalize your experience.
• Saved Quotes: When you save quotes to your favorites, this information is stored locally on your device and synced to your personal iCloud account.
• App Preferences: Your selected color palette and other preferences are stored locally and synced via iCloud.

Information Collected Automatically

• Usage Analytics: We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymized information about how users interact with the App. This includes:
  • Device type and operating system version
  • App feature usage patterns
  • Session duration and frequency
  • General geographic region (country level)
  This data is collected in aggregate form and cannot be used to personally identify you. Firebase Analytics does not collect your name, email, or other personal identifiers.
• Subscription Status: Your subscription status is managed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status but do not have access to your payment information.

Information We Do NOT Collect

We want to be clear about what we do not collect:

• Email addresses or passwords (no account required)
• Precise location data
• Contacts or address book
• Photos or media
• Browsing history
• Advertising identifiers for tracking purposes
• Biometric data

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect solely to:

• Provide App Functionality: Display personalized greetings, save your favorite quotes, and sync your data across your devices via iCloud.
• Improve the App: Analyze anonymized usage patterns to understand which features are most valuable and identify areas for improvement.
• Process Subscriptions: Verify your subscription status to provide access to premium features.

We do not use your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than operating and improving Minerva.

How Your Data Is Stored

Local Storage

Your data (name, saved quotes, preferences) is stored locally on your device using Apple's Core Data framework.

iCloud Sync

If you have iCloud enabled, your data is synced to your personal iCloud account using Apple's CloudKit technology. This means:

• Your data is stored in your own iCloud account, not on servers we control
• You can access your data on any device signed into your iCloud account
• Apple manages the security and encryption of your iCloud data
• You can delete this data by removing the App and clearing iCloud storage

Analytics Data

Anonymized analytics data is processed by Google Firebase and stored on Google's servers. This data cannot be used to identify you personally. For more information, please review Google's Privacy Policy.

Third-Party Services

Minerva uses the following third-party services:

Apple Services

• iCloud/CloudKit: For syncing your data across devices
• App Store/StoreKit: For processing subscriptions
• Apple Push Notification Service: For daily quote reminders

Apple's privacy practices are governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Google Firebase

• Firebase Analytics: For anonymized usage analytics

Google's privacy practices are governed by Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not use advertising networks, social media SDKs, or other tracking services.

Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with third parties except as described below:

• Service Providers: We share anonymized analytics data with Google Firebase to help us understand App usage. This data cannot identify you personally.
• Legal Requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, such as in response to a subpoena or court order.
• Business Transfers: If Koloko Labs LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any such change.

Children's Privacy

Minerva is rated 13+ and is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at [email protected]. If we discover that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.

Your Rights and Choices

Access and Control Your Data

Because your data is stored locally and in your own iCloud account, you have direct control over it:

• View Your Data: Your saved quotes and preferences are visible within the App.
• Delete Your Data: You can delete saved quotes within the App, or delete all data by uninstalling the App and removing Minerva data from your iCloud storage (Settings > Apple ID > iCloud > Manage Storage).

Analytics Opt-Out

You can limit analytics collection by:

• Enabling "Limit Ad Tracking" in your device settings
• Disabling "Share Analytics" in your device's Privacy settings

California Residents (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know what personal information we collect about you
• Delete your personal information
• Opt-out of the sale of personal information (note: we do not sell personal information)
• Non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights

Notification Preferences

You can manage notification permissions in your device's Settings app under Minerva.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information:

• Data stored locally on your device is protected by your device's security features (passcode, Face ID, Touch ID)
• Data synced via iCloud is encrypted by Apple both in transit and at rest
• We do not store personal data on our own servers
• Analytics data is transmitted securely to Firebase using encryption

However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

Data Retention

• Local Data: Retained on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App
• iCloud Data: Retained in your iCloud account until you delete it
• Analytics Data: Retained by Firebase according to Google's data retention policies (typically 14 months for user-level data)
• Subscription Records: Managed by Apple according to their retention policies

International Users

Minerva is operated from the United States. If you are accessing the App from outside the United States, please be aware that:

• Your iCloud data is stored according to your iCloud account region settings
• Analytics data may be processed in the United States or other countries where Google operates

By using the App, you consent to the transfer of anonymized analytics information to the United States.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by:

• Posting the updated Privacy Policy in the App
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy

We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
